FAQ

Questions, answered.

Short, honest answers for small contractors.

Where does the data come from?

SAM.gov's public contract opportunities data, New York City's City Record and Los Angeles' RAMP. See data sources and licences.

How fresh is it?

SAM.gov data is refreshed daily, usually within about an hour of publication. NYC and Los Angeles are refreshed every three hours.

Are the AI summaries accurate?

They're written only from the notice text, and numbers that don't appear in the notice are removed. They can still miss things, so always read the official notice before you bid.

Do I need to register to bid on federal contracts?

To be awarded most federal contracts you need an active SAM.gov registration, which is free. Read how to bid.

What is a set-aside?

A contract reserved for a group of businesses, such as small businesses or service-disabled veteran-owned businesses. See set-asides explained.

Is it free?

Searching is free, with a fair daily limit, and includes a few AI summaries a day. Pro will add tracking, saved searches, calendar feeds and more summaries.

Do you cover state and county bids?

Not yet, apart from New York City and Los Angeles. We don't cover awards, subcontracts or bid attachments.

Do you submit bids or decide eligibility?

No. We help you find and track opportunities. You decide whether to bid and you respond through the official channel.

Is anyone charging to register me in SAM.gov legit?

SAM.gov registration is free. Be careful of anyone who says otherwise; see GSA's scam warning linked on our guide.

Is Aeonis affiliated with SAM.gov?

No. We use public government data, but we're not affiliated with or endorsed by SAM.gov, GSA, the City of New York, the City of Los Angeles or any agency.

Still have a question?

We read every message.
